I just bought a MSI K7T Pro 2A .
Now, what I would like to do is join the 1Ghz club ;)
Overclocking is not my forte' so.....

compuwiz1 has helped answer a few questions but what feedback can you folks gimme?

What processor @ what speed would give me the biggest BANG for the buck?

How much LESS life can I expect from say a Duron or Tbird overclocked to 1Ghz compared to a 1Ghz processor at default?

Intel fit in this picture?

What's the best cooling (both processor fan and tower cooling) that you guys use?

LMK what ya think

On a clock for clock basis, Durons perform roughly 10% slower than Tbirds. I'd suggest that the best bang for buck way to reach the magic 1Ghz would be to purchase a 650 @ 1Ghz Duron from Compuwiz.

If you have more cash to spend, then by all means go for a Tbird though :)

Duron 650, Tbird 850 and Tbird 1000 are the best non-overclocked values. Best cooling... weeeelllllll ;) Watercooled peltiers!!!
Naaa, your best bet would be a FOP32-1 I spose.

Ordered my 1.1g retail Thunderbird from necxdirect.com for $236 with a $25 coupon. Not sure if the coupon is still good. Might try techbargains and see.
