Everytime I go to play an online game, it always seems like my university's wireless is much faster than the ethernet that I plug into? Is there some reason for that on my side or does it have to do with load?

It is out of your hands.

I would simply use the one that works the best assuming that you stick to the AUP (acceptable use policy) so you don't loose the good stuff while you still have to go there...wait and go nuts during your last semester;)

Ask the school how you are to configure your ethernet card and wireless card.

Me thinks you have forced your ethernet card to "100/full". Bad mojo.

Couple that with wireless and wired traffic are treated differently in terms of enforcement. Who knows. I personally recommend that all gaming and peer-2-peer protocols are rate limited to 4 Kbs/sec....per user, per session.
