I would like to install the client as a service in windows 98 however the security program in use is such that I do not have access to the run box or MS dos is there another way to install services?

Narzy-

As a school network admin, you don't want us to tell you all our secrets do you?

The biggest hole in Win 9x policies is letting the students browse for files though applications....nough said? NT is much more secure in this respect.

Make sure you have permission FIRST OK Narzy?

If all you need is to run an executable and you can't open a dos box, the simplest method I know is to use your favorite browser and do a file://c:\command.com I *think* that will get you the dos box.

Narzy,

I have gotten around things like this in the past. If you have permission to install it, send me a PM or e-mail and I can send you some instructions.

The reason I don't want to post it here is I don't want to make it to easy for people to install the client on machines without having permission to do so.

Narzy, try writing a batch file in notepad. The software should still let you run that.😉

ok I have tried every trick to no avail I am just going to start the machine in safemode and go for it via that 😛

Cough Cough...SAFEMODE!

when I say every trick I know, I am only talking about the once that I can remeber new ones are coming to my head every second. bootdisk will work thanks PF and polo no I have not tried that but I am fairly certain it will not work. thanks for all of the help this is far from solved but a push in the right direction.
