I'm applying for a scholarship. It has a bunch of those little essays in the application. They all seem pretty reasonable questions except this one.

<< ________ requires that you take a major and other technical courses from your first quarter: taking many technical courses in the same quarter of study requires organization and self-discipline. Describe how you manage your time effectively and how you discipline yourself to stay caught up in your coursework. >>

How am I supposed to answer this w/o sounding corny or arrogant? (Yes, this is sort of a thinly-veiled cover of give me some ideas for my essay thread.)

That is a really lame essay question. I'd hate to be the poor sap who has to read through ten thousand essays that all make the same general statements. Time management is pretty cut and dry: you're either good at it or you're not. And if you are, the methods are pretty much the same. If you do use that topic you better have some unique method of time management if you want your essay to stand out and catch the reader's attention. Otherwise choose another topic.

EDIT: Another option would be if you are good at managing your time and disciplining yourself you could write about how you acquired that skill. Some people are naturally better at self-discipline than others, but eveyone has to work at it even if some of it does come naturally. Writing about how you developed this skill would demonstrate your personal growth and tendency towards conscientious self-improvement.
