What state are you in? Usually, they have something that you can send an application in, and depending on some things (location, gpa, need, etc) you'll get a scholarship out of a big list. (or more)

That's how I got my full ride scholarship, good luck!

Go to your high school's guidance office. They should have a bunch of local scholarships you could apply for. That's how I got most of my money. Also, the FAFSA will determine your expected family contribution, and whether or not you qualify for work study. It is then up to the college your attending to award you scholarship money based on your academic acheivement and your expected family contribution.

I used fast-web for some national scholarships. It comes up with quite an extensive list.

Good Luck!

Edit: Your guidance counselor's office should have state scholarship's also.

FYI: When you apply to these scholarships, make sure you spell scholarship right.

"Dear Sir,

I would like to be considered for your schlorship. I think I is a good student, and I need the edumacation."

You might want to learn how to spell before applying for any scholarships.

kyguy, I view scholarship applications the same way I view resumes. If on a resume there are spelling errors, my opinion is that the prospective candidate did not take the necessary time to properly present his/her case for qualification. If he/she is sloppy on their initial presentation, what can I expect if I hire him/her?

Go through your counselor. The only ones I won were done through my school (Comcast), and also ones granted by your college.

Do NOT pay for one of those "aid analyses" or whatever they're called.
Use the PAPER FAFSA, not the online one. I got screwed by a processing error and currently fighting to get $5,000/year back on my scholarship. They overestimated my family's current spendable assets by $30,000!
