Hi all,

I have a PC Power and Cooling *Silencer 910 (PPCS910) power supply and a component is missing on the back side of the pcb.

This component is the first one on the right side of the Q316 transistor.*

To help you to quickly find the component I included the links of 2 photos I took of the back side of the PPCS910 pcb:

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B53beaGGMEUgeUFfUFhxSGk...

https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B53beaGGMEUgVWE2SnQ1TER...usp=docslist_api

The first photo allow you see the side of the pcb from where to look for the missing component. In other words you must have the pcb aligned this way and look right on the closest edge of the pcb.*

On the center of this photo we see a séries of 4 square IC one above the other and transistor Q316 is on the right side of the lowest of these 4 integrated circuits right on the edge of the pcb.

The second photo is a much closer view of Q316 where we can clearly see that Q316 is on the right side of the 4 IC between 2 components.

The component of the left side seems to be a resistor while the component on the right side is the missing component for which I need to know the type of component and the value of this component.

Unfortunately, PC P&C had been bought by OCZ and OCZ has been bought by FirePower Technology and this company is claiming that they can't provide the schematic because they're bound by a Non Disclosure Agreerment.*

So, I hope that somebody will be able to help me solve this problem so I can finish to repair my power supply and bring back my computer to life...*

Thanks a lot in advance.*

First, I'll encourage anybody who can solve this problem for you to chime in.

I checked your PCP&C model in a quick web-search:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817703022

It's "out of stock" and consistent with your history of PCP&C changing hands.

When did you buy it? Or how did you acquire it? How much mileage did it rack up?

We just "de-commissioned" a Seasonic 650W unit, running 24/7 for seven years. It didn't seem to have been degraded. But no way was I going to stick it in a system with new or later-gen parts. I clipped the SATA and Molex cables to put away in case I needed "cable-extension mods." the box itself is going to the county electronics recycler -- probably Saturday if I can fit the trip across town into my schedule.

The gay comedienne Wanda Sikes was delivering a story about an old man seeking "male" enhancement to reinvigorate himself. The punch-line: "Ya had a good run with that old thing for decades . . . . Why not just give it up and move on with your life?"

The Silencer PSUs were rebadged Seasonics. Why waste all this effort to "reinvigorate" the PCP&C? Just replace it with a Seasonic. Are all your efforts going to be worth it?

Only you can answer that question for yourself.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

A Seasonic -- rebadged:

A Seasonic:

I'm sure you can also find a 1000W BEFX or Seasonic. Point is, though, the two links are Gold-rated. I'd be willing to bet that you'd overestimated your needs if (and therefore when) you might have purchased the PCP&C.

SOMEBODY's got to know about that missing (or damaged part), or where you can obtain it. But given the effort in posting your thread and everything you did so far, plus the effort in identifying, finding, purchasing and applying the missing part . . . see what I mean? . . .
