Scheduling question...

I have access to five guys who I need to schedule on 12 hour shifts.

David (days - weekends off)(Must have 40 hours)
Tyler (nights - weekends off)(Must have 40 hours)
Rucker (nights)
Jeff (days) (Can not work Tues, Wed, or Thurs.)
Moore (nights) (Can only work Sun or Mon)(Can only have 12 hours in a week)

How can I make it work? The shifts are 6 to 6.

Need more info...

Are David and Tyler capped at 40 hours? Or is that a minimum?

and Moore can only work 12 hours per week?

can Rucker and Jeff work any number of hours?

Are shifts allowed to overlap, or be in amounts other than 12 hours if needed?

No one can work more than 40 hours. Moore can only work 12 hours. Shifts can not overlap. They can be in shifts other than 12 hours.

Well, here's what I come up with... without knowing all the other restrictions that might be present.

David works 6am-2pm Mon,Tues; then 6a-6p on W-Th.
Tyler works 2p-10p Mon, Tues; then 6p-6a on W-Th.
Rucker works 10p-6a Mon, Tues; then 6p-6a on Fri-Sat.
Jeff works 6a-6p Fri thru Sun;
Moore works 6p-6a on Sun.

David, Tyler, and Rucker get 40 hrs; Jeff gets 36 and Moore gets 12.

Monday: David, 6a-2p; Tyler 2p-10p; Rucker 10p-6am Tues.
Tues: David 6a-2p; Tyler 2p-10p; Rucker 10p-6a Wed.
Wed: David 6a-6p; Tyler 6p-6a Thurs.
Thurs: David 6a-6p; Tyler 6p-6a Fri.
Fri: Jeff 6a-6p; Rucker 6p-6a Sat.
Sat: Jeff 6a-6p; Rucker 6p-6a Sun.
Sun: Jeff 6a-6p; Moore 6p-6a Mon.

I tried to keep 12 hr shifts as much as possible but with the constraints and needing exactly 40 hrs for two people... a lot of shorter shifts are needed. This arrangement also allows plenty of time between shifts for all people.

Does that help?

I was just given a dream schedule at my job, so my supervisor was feeling your pain.

We recently decided to go to 4-10's per week. Everyone agreed to it. Me and another guy work Sat-Sun and these are only 8 hour shifts (not that important). The rest of the crew gets every Sat-Sun off, plus one mare day in the middle of the week. I work Fri 10 hours, Sat-Sun 8 & 8, Mon 10 hours. THEY GAVE ME 3 DAYS OFF IN A ROW!!!! bwahahahahaha PLUS, I work from home on Sat & Sun.
