Scheduled renaming and emailing of files

I've got a fax server that dumps all faxes in pdf format into a particular folder when they arrive. It names the files in the format: MonthDayYearHoursMinutesSecondAM/PM.pdf

What I want to do is first of all rename the files like this:

YearMonthDay - Serial#.pdf

and then email them as an attachment to a particular email address, preferably with the subject line also being in the YearMonthDay - Serial format.

Does anyone have any suggestions whatsoever as to how to do this? I'm using Snappy Fax as a fax server, unfortunately it doesn't have any options for renaming the file, otherwise I would be able to do everything using that.

The system is running on WinXP Home SP3.

Any help greatly appreciated,

Stern

I'm not sure what I'm going to use for that yet. Would it be possible to just have it so I can use a running total for it? i.e. the first fax is #1, the second #2 etc?

Ah, I thought you were talking about getting something from inside of the PDF.

I don't know of a particular product that'll do that but it shouldn't be hard to script.

So, anyone able to point me in the right direction for how to script something like this? I imagine renaming and moving the file can't be so hard, but emailing and (I just remembered) printing it to a network printer?
