Last time I tried a sceptre monitor (less than a year ago, a 300$ 24 inch gaming monitor):
1. The manual highly recommended using VGA instead of DVI... I found out why when I used the DVI, even though the monitor was 1920x1200 it reported its native res as 1920x1080 (and reporetd 1920x1200 as a possible resolution). So using 1920x1200 resulted in a deformed image, so did 1920x1080, or any OTHER resolution for that manner. oh, deformed with black bars on the side... totally unusable in DVI, but it worked right if I used VGA mode.
2. Had "auto adjusting backlight brightness" that made a click sound when toggling, it would toggle every 20 seconds from bright to dim just sitting on the desktop. (making the click)
3. Made a high pitch whine

I forgot 4-6... but they were just as terrible.

Have you tried to use DVI-D cable instead of DVI-I?

1920x1200 is very close to the limit of DVI-I..

Got mine today, dvi seems just fine @1900x1200, I am using a dvi-d cable if that makes a difference. No dead pixels, arived in two days.
Nice a bright and very crisp picture, great deal @ $202 shipped. I will update with any problems etc.. But so far seems like a very stable and nice monitor. This is my second sceptre, upgraded from a 20.1"(which was a fantastic monitor/value) it is now my left side screen on my dual monitor setup.
If they come back in stock @ $202, I would highly recommend at this time.
Man this thing is BIG......................................

My only Sceptre LCD is really old so I can't say much here. However, my panel overheats after 2 hours of use, the colours are very off and it also has a high frequency ring.
