holy ridiculously bad resolution batman!

1440x900 @ 23 inches? That's standard for 19".

1680x is standard for 20" and 22"; while 24" are usually 1920x

that cant be normal?

my 19" wide has that res.

My 17" widescreen notebook has that res and people told me in the video forum that it was a horribly low res for a 17" lcd when I bought it. (of course those guys have more money than they know what to do with with their dual 8800 ultras in SLI, so they cannot comprehend cost efficiency when purchasing something, like most of us here).

How is this 1080p if it only does 900 pixels vertically? Oops never mind, that's just the model number!!! Those tricky suckers. Somebody will look at that and buy it because it sais 1080p, lol.

1440 X 900 is not bad for a 17" lappy, it's the lower of 2 choices, the other being 1680 X 1050. However, considering laptops are inherently weak in the graphics department, if you play games on it you're actually better off with the lower res. You'll be able to run higher settings more smoothly.

I don't know how they can market this as a 1080P monitor, and if '1080P' is part of the model number that's just stupid and they're begging for a misadvertisement lawsuit.

not correct. 1280 x 1024 is standard for 19".

But 1440 x 900 is indeed pretty disappointing for a 23".

You're 50% right. 19" 4:3 monitors are 1280 X 1024, but 19" widescreens are 1440 X 900. Considering we're all talking about widescreens here, that was assumed.

Fraggable is also 50% correct 1280x1024 is 5:4 not 4:3. I'm not trying to be a snob; I learned this when I was using a CRT, things looked funky at that resolution.
edit: oh, and let this "Hot Deal" die or warn in the subtitle, OP.

It will take in a 1080p signal and downscale it. Also it is not a 720p TV it is in fact a computer resolution (1440x900 = 16:10)
If you are using it on a computer running 1440x900 will look best, as far as video goes, I doubt downscalining 1080p is going to look that well, so overall this thing is pretty damn silly. Also sceptre pretty much makes junk anyways, I had a 42 inch 1080p panel from them, and all I can say is thank god for the costco return policy, because it was awful

I can't believe the guys have the nerve to call this thing 1080p...I've never even seen a 20" monitor with a resolution this low, let alone 23"

Thats not a monitor, Thats a 720P "HDTV" with out a tuner.

By definition, a tunerless TV is a monitor. In this case, however, it is probably meant to be used as a TV with a separate tuner.

For $229 it's not a bad 23 inch HDTV(720p). I dont really watch TV. I just want to play games at the highest possible resolution. I need more cash to get 30 inch 2500x1600 lcd. lol 😀 FTDS......
