Sceptre 42" LCD

I grabbed the Sceptre 42" LCD for the Costco sale price of $2K shipped/taxes. It arrives Monday.

Is this a good idea, if want a very good HDTV picture for SD and HD everyday viewing and possible for PC gaming?

I've had it since it first came out.

SD sucks. period. if SD is your thing, I'd get a Panny Plasma instead.

HD ATSC tuner isn't bad, but I've seen better on my older 37" Scepter 1080p LCD set.

HTPC is where it really shines though: see http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g319/stranx44/htp2c.jpg . If you are really into gaming, the size is very immersive, but you'll need a good gpu to run its native 1920x1080 resolution with all the goodies turned on.

Thanks. Here's the thing - for PC gaming, I'm getting this and a Panasonic front-projector. Until I try both, I don't know which will be the best.

Maybe I'll find the far larger screen with the projector is far more immersive; maybe I'll find that playing in the dark is a problem, I don't know. So gaming is a 'maybe'.

However, the set would be used for a lot of SD, as the 'normal' set as opposed to the projector for movie viewing in the dark.

So, the bad SD is a worry. It may not be the right set in that case, darn it.
