I have a friend who is a computer tech, he expects a 5k increase in salary after 1 year of experience? Is this tangible?

Maybe if he makes $60K as a starting salery?

I think that after the first 3 months of being a phone tech a few years back, people got bumped from $10 an hour to $11.. that's $2.88K.. but a $5K increase is a lot of dough. Maybe if he's starting low or already making a lot.

I think it breaks down to about $2.40 ah hour increase

Yeah, the question is whether or not that makes any sense. $2.40 more an hour ($5K per year) at $20,000 a year ($10 an hour) is a 24% jump. A little high. $2.40 more at $60,000 a year ($30 an hour) is 8%, a little more attainable.. still a bit high for a tech I'd think. But, I'm not sure. Just thought I try to bring up my reasoning.

Thats just it he makes 22k a year so its not tanglible in my opinion

Well, you never know. If he gets promoted that's a different ball game. Management maybe?..
