scenario, you are stranded on a desert island
and you can only choose one lens and one body (that you currently have)
what would you choose

Canon EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM
and
Canon 30D

lol. well if I currently have to own the pieces, I'd say 5D and 24-105L. If I could take some creative liberties, I'd ideally say 5DII (16MP 5D with higher frame rate and fully weather-sealed) and 28-300L :D

D90 (I'll have one soon enough) and 18-200mm VR. It ain't the best at anything, but it's good enough at everything.

Hmm, from a survival standpoint, I'll take a crop body and a sigma 50-500. I'll be using it almost purely from a scouting standpoint, batteries won't last me that long and it gives me a great range.

Oh wait...they have to exist?

I'm sure you could get Canon to design something like that... you'll just need a semi to carry it around :p

And it'll cost more than Bill Gates' net worth.

The Sigma 200-500 f/2.8 costs $25,000 and weighs 35 lbs, so making a 10-600mm f/1.2 would probably result in a 500 lb lens costing somewhere in the range of $250,000?

Wonder what kinda distortion and chromatic aberration that lens would have at 10mm wide open :D
