This is one thing that has kept me from being in any big rush to go DC DDR. The high price for GB to get a 5 % increase is just not worth it IMHO. This review of the i875 also shows ~ 3 - 5 % increase over SC DDR. The only bench I've seen (besides synthetic SiSoft mem benches) that shows any significant performance increase is Thugs X-Isle Demo bench. I will be going DC DDR. I like the technology, but am not going to shell out big $$ for a mobo that generally gets me 3 - 5 % improvement.

Hey Thugs,

I think it was Evan who said that Granite Bay really flexes its muscles when overclocking. Have you noticed any more performance at overclocked speeds than you did at default speed? (pardon me for thinking youl would ever actually run at default speed.)

Nice job, looks like DCDDR does give relevant boost to performance.
not to mention its much easier to deal with 😉
my ram is underclocked, running on 2.5v, most aggressive cas, and has headroom to spare 😀
(and can run 4 sticks = 4gb ram)

are you kidding? ive got threads/benchmarks all over this forum!
so many in fact that this thread is just a compilation of various threads! 😉

2.0a overclock

2.4b overclock

2.53b overclock

all 3 threads have a full set of benchmarks from stock on up to max OC on a P4G8X-D motherboard.

Those are the things I like about DC DDR. To get my 2 sticks of 512 XMS3200C2 stable @ DDR425, I need 2.8 Vdimm, 2.5,3,3,7. It's really pushed. It will be nice to go down on Vdimm and have better timings as well. Yeah, the increase in performance is generally small, but I'll take it as well. Not sure where pricing will land on the i875 boards yet, but I would think the i865 boards being mainstream desktop boards should be around what we are used to paying for a motherboard.

A good example of how GB was a nice upgrade from i845e chipsets, and i845pe wasn't....😉 Nice comparison Thugsrook....

845PE has its advantages over 845D/E. I'm running (2) 512 Meg sticks of ram @ DDR425. That would be a problem on an 845D/E. I also needed the 4:5 since 3:4 would be too high for my ram.

Amen brotha!!! That is how I see it as well....

well,
if ya got a DCDDR board you can stop playin with that 4:5 and 3:4 nonsense 😉

i see the Asus P4C800 is already for sale at a few vendors 😀
i may have to pick one up

you mean just kinda better...not right obviously...or else they would work flawlessly...just ask thugs and many others.

😎 That would be a very interesting comparison
when overclocked the same me thinks. 😉

<edit> Do you have a link for the P4C800? 😀

no, im in no hurry to get off this motherboard 😉

its on my roadmap ~ but not yet. (havent even read Evan's review yet)

Ahhh.. So this new MB Thugs speaks of is for the new P4's that will hit June 18th (?), correct?

Edit: (I'm stupid) 😉
