Well, as I've learned over the years, what you call a scary movie at 15 will make you yawn when you're 35.

Make sure you watch these with a good surround system, as the sound positioning makes these movies.

As I've gotten older, gore has become un-scary. For me, the fear is in what you DON'T see.

That said, I've always been a fan of the Alien movies. :)

there is an old HBO movie called Fear..not every released on video that I know of...that was some scary $hit

The original version of The Haunting (of Hill House). It is very tense and quite scary if you are alone at night watching it.

Of course it does depend on how you define scary.

The Changeling is quite scary too, from a creepy point of view.

the original Alien movie is possibly the scariest SF movie ever.

Resident Evil, scared me shitless the first time I saw it. I couldnt sleep, I had my light on and a pair of sizzors in my right hand waiting for something to grab me, I was ready for anything.
