Of all the "horror" games available for PC (Resident Evil, Silent Hill, what have ye), which one freaked you out the most?

7th guest? or whatever that game was....I know there were a couple of em...both were a bit scary to me 😛

- Resident Evil
- Diablo
- Quake

Phanstasmagoria, 11th Hours, 7th Guest and Gabriel Knight 2 are also pretty freaky....

no-one mentioned aliens versus predator, playing that as marine, almost killed me, really, pitch black, surround sound system, you're terrefied playing it.

I thought Uninvited was pretty scary back then, if anyone remembers that old series(Deja Vu, Uninvited, Shadowgate, Deja Vu 2).

Of course I was like 9 years old or something when playing it. 🙂

See my post...

AvP2 is pretty good but the clear winner is certainly System Shock 2.

My vote goes to System Shock 2 ... man that was freakin scary when you were alone in the dark. I remember times I'd have to stop playing to relax.

X-COM: UFO Defense.

Explanation: At 3 AM, in a dark room, with only your faithful team of alien killers to steer, seeing a Chrysalid jump out around a corner at one of your guys with your speakers pumped is FRIGGING SCARY. Anyone who says otherwise doesn't get the term at all.

I remember those Chrysalids... I wouldn't really call it scary, but the feeling of panic and horror went through the mind of, at least, the members of the team in play.

X-COM (the first) was a great game.

Doom you fools!

yeah, i don't know if it is the scariest game, but man, when you played that game for the first time (and my first time (playing this game!) was around midnight in a college apartment with all of the lights off), and you go into that room to grab the red key, and when you do, the lights go out and those freaking brown monsters with claws that throw fireballs at you come after you, MAN, THAT SCARED THE LIVING CRAP OUT OF ME AT THE TIME!

😉

Another scary part of a not-so-scary scary game was in Unreal, near the very beginning, when you first go into that door near the crashed ship, and you go down that long hallway, and then you get trapped in the hallway, and then you can see the lights at the far end of the hallway start to go out...and then the next one goes out, and the next, heading towards you, until they're all out and you're left in the dark, and then that monster dude comes after you. Being stuck there, and watching those lights go out, well, it wasn't a "shocking" kind of scary, it was one of those "anticipation" kind of scaries...

And somehow I have a feeling the upcoming Doom 3 is going to once again succeed in scaring the crap out of me...

Counter-strike is pretty scary. 😛 I jump at those guys that pop out of nowhere to knife or AWP you. 😱
