how can I survive without internet for an hour, tho? :(

If something bad is going to happen, at least allow yourself to sue afterwards.

yeh, definitely turn off all electronics, and to prevent any lightning that may live in your lines after the storm from causing damage you had better stay unplugged for a good week. ;)

Agreed. To be real safe, I'd have all the wiring re-done in your house along with a new panel put in. Lingering lightning can be a real bitch.

If lightning strikes near your house, chances are even unplugged electronics will get damaged in some way.
