I'm looking for a scanner for around $100 or so, although the less money the better obviously.
I am going to use it to archive some pictures, copy some photos and print them out for family and maybe put some on my webpage.

Who makes good scanners these days and what should I look for?

Win2k Pro sp2
Athlon Thunderbird 1ghz
abit kt7a-raid
radeon LE

Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions.

I personally like the Canon scanners because they are thin and have an expandable cover. I have the N650U and it has worked flawlessly with Win 98, Win Me, Win2K and Win XP Pro. I do believe the latest "lower-end" model is the N670U which costs just under $100.

I'll second what DCfife said. The Canon scanners are great - thin, lightweight and have the "Z" lid for scanning thicker documents such as books. Also, I believe the newer Canon scanners include a small stand so can vertically store your scanner when you're not using it - which will save more desk or counter space for you.

i have a microtek scan maker 3600 at home and it scans up to about any dpi i feel i need it too

and my friend has one and he got his for about 50-80$

great scanner and it comes with a usb cable and software to edit images with (ulead photo impact studio)

Is this scanner any good? Memorex 6142u Flatbed Scanner.

It's at staples.com for $69.94 - $50 rebate

I was thinking of maybe adding a webcam or something to get it to $100 so I can use the 20 off 100 coupon.
