Question Scanner randomly misfires

I purchased a Canon imageCLASS MF264dw II. Randomly, it will scan when I wake the PC. On occasion and randomly. Also on occasion and randomly, when I want to scan, it will say the scanner is not connected. The printer/scanner is connected via USB, using the drivers that came with the printer, and Windows 10 22H2 build. Any suggestions?

Malware. It's trying to take pictures of you, and failing, because the imaging device is a scanner and not a camera.

Trying a new USB cable. So far so good. Don't think it's malware since my prior scanner didn't do this.

I see that Canon updated the scanner software back in January. Is that what you’re using?

You should check the Canon website for a new version, as that may fix your issue. If it doesn't then you should contact their support.

It's still under warranty. I got it 3 months ago.

Then you need to call Canon, and start the RMA process!

I updated the drivers and software and it's not doing it anymore. whew, I didn't want to return/replace it.
