I just bought an HP Photosmart 3210xi All-in-one.
The advertised scan resolution is:
Scan resolution, hardware: Up to 4800 x 4800 dpi optical
Whenever I scan something though it always shows up as 200dpi in Photoshop.
I understand the difference between print dpi and screen res.
My questions is, if I scan a 1"x1" picture with this scanner shouldn't the dpi in Photoshop be 4800? (ie. a really freakin' huge file)
EDIT: Nevermind, I just contacted HP and apparently you have to use their bloat-ware software to get high-res scans. Scanning from the controls on the all-in-one yield only 200dpi scans. I was trying to avoid installing their software as it is very shoddy.
