Scanner question

IMHO, the Epson is the winner. I have had an Epson for a couple of years (Perfection 2450 Photo) and it has been super - very reliable.

I think it depends on what you want to do. I use HP's for heavy work but for quick and dirty jobs especially portable one's I don't think you can beat the Canon LIDE series. They get power straight from the USB cable are thinner than many laptops and weigh 4 pounds or less. The cheapest in the series is under $50. I have two different models my self and use them a lot with Photoshop, and MS Office. We also have several at work, all have been problem free. However I have never been a user of Epson so I can't base a fair comparison. Probably a bias from originally disliking their dot matrix printers compared to NEC and Okidata.
