Scanner problem

I have an old Primax Colorado usb9600 that it's not recognized by XP.
I managed to find a program that uses drivers and recognize it as a type of Flatbed scanner.
The scanner is now recognized by xp but when i tried to install the scanning softw tells me that scanner is not found.
Do anyone had a similar problem?
My guess is that i can scan but with another scan program but i'm unaware of which one, or the drivers won't work.
 
Can you go into "My Computer," right click on your scanner (it shows up there, right?), and choose "Get picture using Scanning Wizard"?
 
No i know that.The scanner should appear as an icon but it doesn't!
Yet the device manager shows the flatbed scanner working properly!
