Scanner not working

I have a Canon mp287 printer and scanner, when I press the scan button I get an error saying 'cannot communicate with the scanner'

(screenshot attached). I found a solution to this problem by disabling 'Enhanced host controller' under USB in device manager.

(screenshot shot attached), but after I disable this enhanced host controller USB menu, it affects the whole performance of the transfer to EHDand pendrives (transfer speed of around 700kb/s,when it used to be around 30mbps for my External hard drive) .. Can anybody help me with an alternate solution..? Lots of people have reported this problem but couldn't find a working solution yet.
 
How about uninstalling/removing the printer/scanner., powering off, and then reinstall it from scratch?
