I know I know this belongs in Tech Support or Peripherals but I've had it there before in the past and it just doesn't get much hits and this thing is such a b*tch to get working I need it in here.

I have an HP ScanJet 4300c and I can't even get the program to load. I haven't gotten it to work since I last formatted. I have the PrecisionScan LTX 1.1 software. I install it, restart, then plug in scanner (USB) and it detects, does its thing. Then when I try to load the program it gives me some type of memory address error. I've tried uninstalling it, removing .dlls/.infs, and registry entries so it's a clean install, then try reinstalling and different combiniations. Like plug in the scanner w/o restarting, have it plugged in while installing, etc... The readme says to plug it in and then it will ask for the drivers but if I don't have ANY HP software on and plug the scanner in, nothing happens when I plug it in.

I'm outta ideas. F*cking thing never worked right. Never worked on my cel 550 system, then it worked fine for a while on this system until the last format! I get mad trying to get it work, ala Office Space. "Cmon ya little f*cker! Yeah, lets do EXACTLY that!"

It would help to know a bit more about your system, like which OS are you running and what's changed besides the format when the scanner worked last? Any new hardware? New drivers for anything?

Running win2k. No change in hardware. The only drivers that are different is that I have newer video card drivers.

I think everythings messed up now though. Even though its a fairly new format, I get the exact same error when I run the scanning software as I do when I quit Civ3. And Diablo 2 just doesn't work at all... And Outlook Express takes like 4 minutes to load. So somehow soemthing is just completely messed up. I'll format tonight or tomorrow.
