Hi, my mom has had an HP scanjet 4400C scanner for quite a while now. all of a sudden, she told me it didn't work. I hooked it up, and it will not power on. I have tried it on both her PC (dell P4 2.4, 512 MB RDRAM) and my new one (A64 3200+, 1 GB DDR, EPoX 9NDA3+). I hooked up the scanner through the provided USB cable, as well as the rather large power cord. After hooking it up and hitting the power buttion, nothing hapenned. No lights, sounds anything. Windows isn't recognizing any new hardware on my PC, so it is looking bad.
Basically, I need to know if the scanner is dead, or if there is something obvious I am missing. Nothing was changed on her PC, it just stopped working one day... Could it be something like a burnt out bulb, though I would think it would at least turn on.

PS - this is a bit urgent, as I need to scan some college applications. If I can't scan, I am going to be forced to use kinkos or something...
