I recentely purchased a hp 4200c scanner and when I scan something there's terrible lines through the image. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this other than slamming it against a wall?

Try saving it in different formats... And open it up while it is scanning--see if you see the light going off, or the motion of the scanner not smooth.
