Scanner for Xmas

Ok guys, wifey said she would get me a scanner for Xmas. My job is to find the best bang for the buck. My father has an Epson scanner and gives out good results. I have an Epson 780 Stylus Photo printer. Would like to stay with an Epson scanner if I can.


Could anyone recommend what scanners would be best with my config?

 
I have an Epson 1240 Scanner which works excellent but I just got done
installing the new Epson 1250 on a customers computer and it seems ALOT slower then the 1240.

u might get a good deal on a epson at www.ubid.com I bought someone an Epson 610 for $29 plus shipping (refurb). It work terrific... and heck with a refurb at least you KNOW it works, but maybe this is a bad assumption. For $29 though I think it was a great bargain. I think I saw a 1240U up for auction... was still only going for $9, probably will get a few bids so who knows the final price. The only thing I don't like about Ubid though is there shipping charges kind of suck. If you want to buy retail buy.com is pretty good plus they aren't charging for shipping.
 
I've been looking at the Epson 1650 w/slide scanner. Cheapest I've seen is $223 (that includes shipping). Wifey says Ok but would like to get a better deal.
 
I've heard good things abou epsons but I bought a canon 670U. Pretty good results so far and I like the small foot print.
