scanjet problem

I just bought a scanjet 3400C(which does not have a switch..@!@#$!)So when i pull out the plug,the mouse and the loading time of web pages(i was surfing)suddenly become very sluggish.i rebooted, and out come a blue screen of death when i reach the desktop.It say something about some files still opened when i close some programs and something about volume.I tried restarting with the plug in and the com boot up just fine.What the hell is happening?Please help..thk you!

I have a scanjet 3200C parallel and a parallel CDRW. I get the sluggishness if I axe power to the CDRW when it's been already detected by windows. You should try ctrl+alt+shift+delete and have a look around for suspicious programs to do with the HP slowing things down. If not then you could try uninstalling the driver software altogether and reinstalling when you need it... or at least disable the device in Windows System.
