Scanjet lamp blinks?

I have a HP scanjet 5370C, and when i try to scan, it just blinks at me in 5 blink intervals.

one day my dad brought home an HP ScanJet (don't remember which model, it was 50 bucks on sale, and it was a flat-bed) and told me i know you've wanted a scanner, think of it as an early birthday gift. i loved that scanner, i loved it so. i brought all my friends over just so we could scan our faces, feet, and hands (we were 11, i'm 14 now). about 3 months after i bought it, it started giving me these symptoms, and sometimes failing to turn on at all. i took it to reputable friend of mine who is very smart in the PC are as i am now (hahaha 🙂 i own you biotch 🙂) told me the lamp was fried, and replacing it would be more tedious, time consuming, and expensive than getting a new scanner, just my 2 cents
 
Yes, unfortunately, lamps are quite expensive and you may not have the skill to replace one. Nowadays with ebay, it's really cheap to buy a scanner of the quality of the 5370C.
