Scandisk undo ordeal...

Right, I've got a whole HDD with files and directories which ALL look like this:
DIR00001
DIR00002
etc..
FILE0001
FILE0002
etc..

I want to use the Undo Disks Scandisk made when creating this muckup to get the files back to their previous state (un-repaired).

And I have no idea how to...

I'm running W2k, so I guess boot to Win98 bootdisk, then have it run scandisk, then some command (OK so I might find it if I looked but it's easier asking you lot )

Thanks guys!

Why don't you just delete them? If you're not too sure about that... move them to a separate disk and if nothing goes wrong for awhile maybe you can delete them after that. 🙂

No way!

I want the data that is within them!

I'm going to do this by first undoing the repair, then a format f:/mbr and that should hopefully give me access to some of my files...

I know it's a long shot, but it's worth a try, eh?

Cheers

fdisk /mbr will repair your master boot record, but I'm not familiar with that format switch you mention or what it would do, if anything.

fdisk f: /mbr

I suppose - in my case, where f: is the drive...?
