SCANDISK on WIN2000 pro?

ok i've benn using WIN 98 for years and now i upgrade to WIN 2000 so im not very familiar with it...

IS THERE A SCAN DISK UTILITY OR SOME SORT ON WIN 2000?
HOW DO I CHECK MY HD?

thanks

Windows 2000 has CHKDSK instead of SCANDISK.

Right click on a drive under My Computer, Select Properties. On the Tools tab, under Error Checking, hit the Check Now button. That essentially invokes CHKDSK without you going to the command line.

Ideally, you should open up a command prompt and type chkdsk /f. You may be required to reboot if some files are locked. The CHKDSK will then run during your next reboot.

If you're using NTFS, there should never be any reason to manually run chkdsk unless the OS tells you to. NTFS is *much* more robust than FAT in this regard.

If the system event log doesn't indicate any hardware or filesystem errors, you really shouldn't need this information.

(But Andy's information is correct.)

ok thx just wondering if my HD is dying after 2 weeks (i asked the question on another post)
well in this case it's running strong and no errors so i guess im fine
thanks
