For some reason, scandisk isn't where its suppose to be, and I was wondering what the exact filename for ScanDisk is under WinXP Pro. I thought it was usually located in the C:\Windows\System32 folder, but I can't find it, and so far my searches have come up with nothing. Thanks in advance for your help.

Nope - you won't find it, either. XP removes it because it can't work with the NTFS file system and the way that Windows manages it. So, what took its place? A new version of CHKDSK that runs from the command prompt during the boot cycle if you request it.

Go to Start, Help & SUpport, and look up CHKDSK. Tells all about it.

If this is wrong, I apologize, but in Win2k with NTFS, you can right click on a drive, go to properties, then the tools tab. You'll see an option called error checking, and a box to "check now". That runs a scan disk that you might find familiar. Since XP and 2k are very similar I think its the same (I stopped using XP a few months ago so I cant remember).

You can run the chkdsk command from the command line as well.

Yes, but there is still a GUI version of it, that doesnt require a reboot of the system

This is wrong. The little dialog just runs chkdsk and reports the output in it's window. If you check the 'repair' option, even the help will indicate that if the drive can't be locked (and the boot drive can never be locked) the scan/repair will take place during the next reboot.
