Without going into great detail, I have a legit CD that is part of a multi disk package. During install of like the fourth disk I get a blue screen with an unable to read, disk may need cleaning message. The disk looks fine and I am about to go through the process of obtaining a replacement disk. Without trying a new machine to test the full install, is there any sort of "readable" testing I can do with this one optical disk? Windows scandisk limits its list to magnetic drives. Didnt try dos but I'm guessing it is the same.I am trying to install this software in a laptop and have to wonder if it has a weak laser in the reader vs a bad disk.It (the CD) has worked in other machines before.

There are programs out there that do a "scandisk" of a CD, but I don't know their names offhand. Not that anything can be done anyway if you find an error. :D

Just RAW extract the CD to a image and expand it on your HD in a seperate directory. Then scandisk the info.

I have a bad Linux Caldera CD that does the same thing. There is a small defect in the CD itself, and screws up the install.
