Double Stuff Oreos Don't Actually Have Double The Crème

r-OREO-large570.jpg

But how much creme is actually in your Oreo? Math teacher Dan Anderson, who runs the blog A Recursive Process, did the math for us.

He weighed 10 regular Oreos, 10 Double Stuf Oreos, 10 Mega Stuf Oreos and 5 wafers, then performed some basic calculations to determine the creme content of the aforementioned cookies. Here's what he found out:
o-MEGA-STUF-570.jpg

If these measurements are correct, Oreo has some explaining to do. Double Stuf Oreos don't have exactly double the creme of a regular Oreo. (Considering the hubbub over Subway sandwiches that measured less than the advertised 12 inches, parent company Mondelez might want to up the creme in these babies.)

And Mega Stuf Oreos have only 2.86 times the creme in a regular Oreo. The prefix "mega" literally means a factor of one million, which, granted, is impossible to translate to an Oreo. Still, perhaps another name could have sufficed

"Stuf" isn't as good a descriptor as "ingredients." Especially if your business says it uses "better ingredients" for a "better pizza," you're going to get called on it.

Now... don't tip well enough and obviously your pizza will contain exponentially more semen, boogers and urine... but that goes for any good pizzeria.

They aren't that good anyway. The original ratio is best. You see that a lot with products. They increase the size to appeal to gluttonous consumers, and ruin what made it special in the first place.

Nothing compared to when the caught Cumberland Farms of selling gallons of milk that were around 126oz's, think of it, they sell tens of thousands of gallon containers each day, saving 2oz on each one was a nice bonus to the company until they got caught..

I'm getting pissed off with products that come in boxes that have a 1/3 of it empty. That is so freaking dishonest. If you can look in and see fine, but they make it so you can't see that it's just a lot of air.

Tons of companies are doing this now. It appears to be a gallon. But if you read the label it's no longer a gallon. It's legal of course in that case since it's some place barely visible though

the middle stuff is disgusting anyway.

I like the chrstmas ones the best.. wreaths?. just a wafer with a bit of drizzle on it. not so sickly sweet. I don't know if they've been around the last couple years though.

so if they made a 'quarterstuf' variant and upped the cocoa, that would be ideal.

Wait, the package says "Double Stuf", not "Double Creme". So the first thing that would have to be done is define what "Stuf" is. Analysis is fail.

No it's not. Hard candy or hard products don't settle. Shoot even popcorn doesn't barely settle. Definitely not cookies. And certainly not a 1/3 of the product size. I guess stuff suddenly settles now that never did before when I bought it years ago

Gasoline is still a problem with scams. Owners are always fiddling with the pumps, adding water, or adding lower grade fuel to the higher grade tanks. Why do you think they can sell gas so cheap.

It's called read the labeling, it will tell you how much is in there via a standard comparable measurement. They did the packaging "trick" for moron consumers who associate the size of the packaging with how much they are getting. It is just one of countless slimy things companies do to take your money.

If you don't actually have the amount in there that is shown on the label, then you have a reason to be pissed, otherwise you are just gullible.

It's dishonest. You shouldn't have to worry about being fucked over in a first world grocery store. Companies that use dishonest packaging shouldn't be patronized to the extent possible.

This Huffington Post piece was in direct response to the truth in advertising stories proliferating both television, print and Internet media. We're on the same Internet, try to keep up. :) Anyway, even George Carlin couldn't wrap his head around the meaning of "stuff."

The latest one, from a few days ago....
What Papa John's doesn't want you to know about its pizza
The chain keeps those 'better ingredients' it advertises a secret and, when asked by a journalist and customer repeatedly for answers, Papa John's did not deliver.

If Papa John’s Uses “Better Ingredients,” Why Is It So Hard To Find Out What They Actually Are?
