Scan Converter Problems

I purchased a TView Gold so I can have a TV out setup. However, I am unable to get the unit to work. I believe the problem is with my computer, because I hooked the scan converter up to my roommate's laptop, and the output was fine. When I hook it up to my computer, the output has lines that continually move up the screen, and every few seconds (about 15-20) the image flickers. My video card is a Asus V7700 DDR 64 MB. Does anyone know what the problem may be?

Thanks for your time

Check the resolution output of your laptop. You may be exceeding the max resolution of your scan converter.

I have a feeling that the resolutions isn't the issue. I tried various resolutions in windows, but I noticed that when I boot the computer, I still have the lines on the screen. Also, the max resolution is listed to be 1600x1280.

Thanks again.

They make 2 versions of the Gold.
The early version will do 1024x768 at 72Hz max.
Later version with FS400 chip will do 1600x1280 at 152Hz max.
It is almost impossible to tell the 2 units apart by looking at them.
I had both, and now have the newer one. Newer unit uses 5vdc, 1000ma adaptor.
Older unit has a 10 button remote. Newer unit has a 23 button remote.
Make sure switch on unit is set correctly, NTSC here.

As a test, try 800x600 at 60Hz refresh rate.
I have no problem using my gold with a nVidia GF2 GTS card, at any resolutions or refresh rates. The unit has adjustments for horizontal and vertical rates that can be saved. It may be that the saved refresh rate internal settings are not correct for your TV. Start off as I said with 60hz, then gradually increase resolution and refresh until you get what you want. With each step, make adjustments to the screen with the units remote. This grdaule approach may correct it. Let us know.

I think I have the later version of the gold, with the 23 button remote, but I have a 5v DC 800 mA adaptor. I tried lowering my resolution and refresh rate. I did notice that the quality of the picture on my monitor has been decreased when the gold is connected. I cannot notice a difference at 60Hz, but anything higher is almost unusable. I tried to making adjustments to the screen with the remote, but changing the vertical/horizontal size doesn't seem to affect the lines that continually move up the screen.

Thanks
