Scammers trying to scam me...

Gravity

I've had 3 or 4 scammers try the same thing. They see my ad for my bike for sale. They send me a msg telling me they are buying the bike and they will send a check. The check will also have their fee in it, to the tune of a few grand. I'm to cash the check, give the bike to a shipping company as well as the buyer's fee.

The scam is that the bank check or cashier's check is fradulent and will eventually bounce. Then the seller is left with the bank notice and the item has been shipped. They are usually from a foreign country (nigeria anyone?) so law enforcement prolly can't stop them.

Here's an e-mail convo that I have kept up with one guy, my name has been changed to "me" to protect me, however, the scammer's identity is as it appears in the scam:

Hi Tom, well it is all rigrth... thanks for the immediate response, good to hear that. i'm ok with the price and the condirtion of the bike like new, please all the assurance i need from you now is that whoever email you concerning it, tell him/her that it has
been SOLD off!
so about the payment a cheque will be issued out to you on your name
with a bank certified chqeue so i will need your
Name
Address
Phone Number
Posta code.
so the cheque will be issue out to you with no waste of time if you
can get back to me soonest cause i am about to leave for my travelling
so i will ask my client to issue the cheque to you ,so after you
receive the check then my shipper issue will come up to that so the
shipping fee will be included to the amount on cheque so you could
just deduct yours then i will instruct you on how to come about that
so you can send the remaining money back to my shipper so that he can
come for the picking-up of the bike,so get back to me as soon as
posible so that i can make the payment and you can get it ontime.
Thanks for the fast response and God bless

no i'm not... and why did you think so.

part of me wants to take advantage of the scammers, teach them a lesson. I don't guess that's possible?

Let them mail you the check, don't cash it, let their shipping company pick up a box full of sh1t.

Tell him that you have a friend who lives exactly in the same place where he lives and mention that your friend will come and pick up the CASH.

See his response.... 🙂
