Here's how to play a scammer, I copied this from Woodnet forums🙂
Everyone knows about the scam where you post something for sale and you get an email from someone wanting to buy it and send you a check for more than the value of the item. You then Western Union the excess back? Well, When I posted my Jet 10" saw for $600 a week ago, I got an offer just like the above. I replied back and forth and so on. At anyrate, a guy is sending me a check for over $16000. The below is the email string. Some of you may find it amusing, others may be offended. If you're offended easily, stop reading now, especially if you're offended by crude comments. Here're the actual email string...it was too good to keep private.
Moderators,
If you wish, I'll delete this post, it's off topic and crude.

My name is xxxxxxxxxxxxx ,I have a client that is interested in the
purchase of your item,he informed me that the payment will be remmited
via a certified cheque...Is the price you listed for the item firm?In
order to conclude the deal as soon as possible, the certified cheque
that will be sent to you will include the money for the sales of your
item and the shippers fees for organising a home pick up service. You do
not need to worry as my shipping company will come to pick the item up
from your base for shipment. What I want to clarify is that will you be
able to send the shipping charges to the shipping agent as soon as you
get and cash the certified cheque at your bank and you deduct the money
for the sales of your item?If you agree to assist in this capacity ,
send your Mailing Address along with the price.
I await your response

Kevin,
I have the item and it is still for sale, but since I've had so much
interest in the saw, I've raised the price to $12000. I apparently had
the saw underpriced. I would also be interested in trading for other
items, mostly livestock as I live a lonely life and like to keep sheep
for adult company. I currently am down to two sheep, a duck and a can of
whipped topping for company. If you can't provide livestock, $1200 would
be adequate. The saw is very heavy, weighing somewhere around 4600lbs,
so shipping will be expensive, can you cover shipping costs for 4600 lbs?

Kevin,
Thanks for the quick response. I've had another offer at $12000, so I
won't be able to go any lower. The saw is currently mounted to be back of
a 1972 Ford Pinto, will you be able to provide the labor to remove it? If
not, I'd be willing to sell the Pinto for another $4700, but it shouldn't
raise the price of the shipping too much. So that you know, the 1972 Ford
Pinto is not in perfect condition, there are a few blemishes. There are
sheep/chicken stains iin the back seat, and some of the rubber seat coating
(I coated it myself) is coming off the passenger seat. I have also made a
number of modifications to the Pinto. The hood as a 3'x5ft piece of velco
glued down. The purpose of this is that if I catch a sheep, I can stick
him/her to the hood for my pleasure. The velcro does a good job holding
them most of the time. I've also added a counter weight to the crankshaft.
This causes the car to vibrate something fierce. As you can imagine, it
is very pleasurable for me and the sheep like it because I get finished
faster. I also have terrible athletes foot and have cut a 1ft/1ft hole in
the drivers side floor board so I can scratch my feet on the pavement while
going down the road.
If you are OK with the total of $16700 for my Jet Table Saw and 1972 Ford
Pinto, you can make the check out to and mail it to:
