Scammed out of $300

Was recently scammed out of $300 on another forum. Seller said he was in the US, but a moderator has confirmed the ISP used to post messages is in Sydney Australia. Unfortunately I have little information to work with, only a name and email address. I was wondering if anybody around Sydney could maybe look the name up in a phone book or something and help me get some more useful contact information, such as phone number and address? Maybe I could also get in touch with the Sydney police department and see if there's anything they could do. Any help and advice would be appreciated.

Tried the online white pages and may or may not have found him. When he contacted me, he signed Dan Gusavak with a K at the end. White pages turn up no Gusavak in the New South Whales area, but there are a couple results for Gusavac with a C, two of which are D. (Dan?) Gusavac. None are listed as Sydney, though. Then again, the guy may live around Sydney and have used a public computer in Sydney to post on the forum.
