Scam: Yay or Nay

Trying to sell my dads truck and this dude is supposedly interested. I think it is a scam by just how it is written and the money transfer. I will not do this deal.

That scam has been talked about here often. You cash it and send the excess to him. Bank finds out that the cashier's check is fake a week or so later and you get burned.

My guess would be that he will need to have your banking info to deposit a check of $10,000. and thinks you will jump at the chance. Then he will empty your account and you will get beat big time!

Yeah. They had this on th enews here a few weeks back. Tell the guy you'll go for it but then don't actually send him any money. The cashiers check you receive isn't worth the paper it's printed on.

But maybe you could forward that email to the FBI and have them try to track the guy down...

Tell him you want to do the deal but just got a better offer of $6,000.00 and will have to go with the new offer unless he wants to match it. When he e-mails back okay, tell him that you made a typo and the new offer was really $6,500.00 and if he still wants the truck he'll have to match it. See how far he plays.
