UPDATE:

So I told him about my concerns with BidPay. Now he says he will pay by USPS Money Order online.

Is that even an option? I don't think so.

So I'm trying to sell something on Craigslist and I want to know if it's a scam or not.

Thanks for the response,I am very much interested in this item & Reguarding my payment method I will be sending you Money Order and it will be handled by Bidpay. So for the payment to commence all I need from you is your full name & your payment address , where you want the money to be sent to by bidpay and you will recieve a confirmation of payment immediately my payment has been approved by bidpay. So for the shipping I will be responsible for that, and i will be picking up the item with my personal fedex account upon reciept of confirmation of payment order approved. So get back to me to me on time

What's the chance that this is bad?

Scam. Anyone who wants to use their own fedex account is 99% a scam. Bidpay is fine and not a scam, but they normally send you a fake email to confirm payment - its easy to check this though - just login to bidpay yourself and it will tell you if they received money.

Well it does say he will take care of the shipping... which is why I am unsure. I'm not shipping it out of the country or anything... at least that I'm aware of. I'm going to send an e-mail back now about his location.

Okay, good, thanks for the info. 🙂

I think its likely to be a scam, the only way I would do it is if you confirm the MO is real with Bid-pay yourself AND wait at least two weeks after depositing the money order so it fully clears your account before shipping, or if theres a way to cash the MO thats the best bet of all.

You dont need to wait with bidpay - you can login yourself and check to see if they received payment for you. The scammers try and rush you and send a fake bidpay email saying the money is on the way, hoping you wont check with bidpay direct. You can get bidpay direct into your checking account these days too, its quick and safe.

tell him that you are a cousin of the nigerian prince, and that you might be able to give him $45 Million dollars for showing interest in your item.

100% SCAM "......in this item" scammers never mention the specific item.

Scam the over use of this phrase "I am very much interested in this item " always sends up a red flag for me. Afterwards if you continue to read it's obviously BS.
