OK, i left for work and roomie called me to tell me i seemed to have an URGENT call from Citi-Mastercard(which i have) about my acct. It was a recording, not live person. It said something like 'if ur <name> press 1, if not, press 2' after which it gave a 1800 number to call(which roomie did not get). Roomie was looking for a pen when it hung itself up. Msg specifically said to call them before June 21st.

Whatddaya guys think? Scam or what? I called my citi-mastercard and they had no notes in my acct about ever calling me. Weird?

However, what scares me is the recording seems tailored for me, it has my home phone, recording said MY name, and they obviously know i have a Citi-mastercard.

I got the same call, also have the same card. Something like 40 million account info records were stolen recently, so it could be because they're being overly cautious because of that, or it could be someone trying to scam you using the stolen information.

not yet....they are most likely calling to make sure they have correct info...to those who DO call them "back"...their accounts are as good as gone

I don't have the number, sorry. If you called Citi and they said they never called you, I'd believe them. Can't hurt to request a new card though.

why can't we have a class action lawsuit and sue these guys into the ground for not taking reasonable precautions to protect our data?

if you called your CC and they didn't know about it, then it is a scam

how is that hard to figure out?

We got a call like that a week or two ago and it turns out it was legit. Assuming yo uhave a Citibank card, I'd give them a clal and see what's up.

Call the number on the card, not the number from some unknown recording.
