I got an email yesterday from an unkown sender, when I opened it, the HTML didn't display properly. Intrigued, I copy pasted it into a text file, renamed it with an htm extension and opened 'er up in FireFox. This is what came up. At first I was like WTF? I definatley hadn't sold any Dollhouse Mexican Bean Pots. So I proceded to click the link on the item number to the right of the Item Title, which brought me to the eBay login screen. This didn't make any sense to me, as you shouldn't have to login to see any item. I checked the URL, and low and behold, it was not ebay.com, but rather this crazy shizit: http://217.112.88.11/~vorx/sapid/index.php. Needless to say, I did not login. I just wanted to warn other members on the Forums here.

There are ton's of these...I have even gotten a few that 'did' "buy it now" on one of my current auctions.

They are getting better at tricking those that don't know better.

I almost exclusively open a new browser window to go to ebay/paypal/etc directly, then see if the correspondance matches.

Anyone taken in by that in this day and age deserves to be scammed. The only surprise is a day in which I don't get some lame-ass phishing scheme. This one is not any different from the 10 billion others that have come before it.

You guys are fcking idiots. What about some non-computer type person, just trying to have an ebay garage sale for the first time?

Freaking nerds.

Most crime is obvious to those that understand it; unfortunately the masses do not...they believe in too much in honesty.
