I bet the big mining companies who run these cards 24/7 actually do something like that. At some point the fans must get clogged up with dust and they would need to be serviced on a regular schedule to avoid failures.
With that much invested, I bet they run a clean room env, like most data centers have.

nah the cost of eletricity would kill them.

They usually pick smart locations where its cold most of the time, so they can expose them to outside like this.

From https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/alder-lake-builders-thread.2598850/post-40675300:

Nvidia sales for fiscal year 2022 are up ~50% over last year, and last year they saw a similar growth over the previous year. People are not only buying video cards, they do as at a record rate.

It remains to be seen how much of those sales went into the actual hands of gamers. It could just be that people have recognized the value of 3D cards as a quick and easy cash making alternative to, you know, actually doing something risky like a business venture or playing at the casino or just plain working hard at a job.

I had a 3060 Ti brand new and I was gonna keep it around until I actually needed it and put it up for sale just to see how much it would fetch. One guy literally started begging me to sell the card to him coz it wasn't available anywhere at a good price. I guess I felt sorry for him and sold it to him for a measly $13 profit. And this happened mere days before the prices doubled. I was never good at making money :D
