SBS2003 and CompanyWeb

What you'll need to do is go into the IIS manager and go to the companyweb properties. Then, right beside the IP address, click the advanced button. Now, you'll need to hit add under the multiple identities for this website. Then just fill in the IP address, the port, and the host header (you should set it to "companyweb.yourdomain.com" -- without the quotes). Then, just setup a DNS record to point to your subdomain. That should do it for you.

EDIT: I just noticed in the topic name you said it was SBS....so all that you'll really have to do is setup a DNS record to point to companyweb.yourdomain.com.

what if it's a dynamic dns domain?

yourname.dnsalias.com

I'm assuming that you have something like yourdomain.dnsalias.com. So, in that case it would have to be companweb.yourdomain.dnsalias.com

🙁

still isn't resolving.

i can log into the server using Remote desktop and yourdomain.dnsalias.com. but when i do yourdomain.dnsalias.com in IE it doesnt' resolve. when i try companyweb.yourdomain.dnsalias.com it doesn't resolve. when i try yourdomain.dnsalias.com/companyweb it doesn't resolve.

hmmm

What do you have setup in the advanced options of companyweb? If you don't have your domain in there (I set it up like that through the wizard whenever I was setting up my server) it will not work. So, just verify that your external domain, companyweb.yourdomain.dnsalias.com, is listed in the advanced properties of companyweb. By default it is setup to point to companyweb.yourwindowsdomain.local. Also, whenever you were going through the Internet Connection Wizard did you allow everything to be accessed through the internet? If you didn't, you can go to the Server Management and to the To Do List and run through the internet wizard again.
