sbs 4.5 no to trust but yes to member ?

quick question for anyone familiar with nt/sbs 4.5. Since a machine running sbs in a network is on the top of the domain structure and can't accept trusts but can accept member servers is it possible to run exchange on a box in the same tree as an sbs pdc?
