SBLive + XP == Loud Buzz/Relooping

It seems that certain sounds cause a buzz; the sound will reloop and get louder and louder until a very loud buzz is emitted from my headphones. This is clearly audible from the adjacent room, so I'm sure this isn't too good for my headphones.

I'm using an SBLive XGamer with the SBLive drivers off windowsupdate.

Anyone else have this problem or know of a solution?
