Hello,

I recently 'upgraded' from windows 98SE to 2K, and overall I am very pleased with it. however there is one big problem I am having, and that is that my sound card isn't working properly. Anything I do that emits sound will 'jump' about 1 second after starting; winamp, a movie, etc. At the moment I am using the win98 drivers that came with the card. I tried to use the 'driver update' that you can get from the creative website, but having installed this, any program that tried to emit sound would crash instantly.

So how can I get it working properly? I am planning on reinstalling, as this is a bad installation and I want to go back to FAT32, so I don't mind if that is the only solution.

Oh and one other thing, I set everything up nicely so that ive got my black background, no pointer shadow, etc, but this is not the default. Before 'logging on', the background is the default blue colour, and the pointer shadow is there. Same when shutting down. This isn't really a problem, just a bit annoying, so any help would be great :)

Thanks!

suggest you totally uninstall the present sb drivers & software!
look on google for liveware3 for win2k & install it instead.

Thanks for the help.

I think it is a bit stupid that creative do not seem to offer any kind of driver support anymore. I managed to find liveware 3 for windows 2000 via a link to an italian site. It is here: http://www.hwfiles.it/dett/513.file. How rediculous that this is the only way to get drivers for the hardware you bought.

The drivers posted on Creative's website ARE THE FULL DRIVERS!!!! You do not need to have previously installed any other drivers! Nor do you need to have your original CD!

The following link is for the 2k/XP drivers, 9.28MB

http://www.americas.creative.com/support/files/download.asp?Centric=107&OS=6

They include AudioHQ, the Creative mixer/speaker control program, SoundFont loader and 2MB SoundFont set, Creative Keyboard, EAX stuff, etc...

If you 'upgraded' the 98 to 2k..then a clean reinstall of 2k (no upgrade) might work fine..2k installed drivers for my SB card and it works great...
