Couple of problems I am having w/ me Creative Live Platinum 5.1

Problem: 1) Upon instalation of drivers & apps off of retail CD's, a LiveUpdate Icon that blinks in the lower left corner of my desktop asking me if I would like to check for updates. When I click to check for updates (just to see if it works) I get some sort of Rundll error box and it closes without checking for new stuff.

Problem: 2) Creative's driver page has NO drivers for 5.1 platnums or any 5.1 live sound cards...at all! Only Liveware drivers for NON 5.1 cards. What gives? I have looked everywhere on the site! All Liveware drivers are for NON 5.1 cards. Am I missing them somewhere? Any advise????

Flokster, I would just regedit the live update out of your startup folder. All it does is just eat up CPU time. All you really need if the drivers for the card. All the rest of the stuff is just fluff.

has for no drivers for download of their site. Probaly because the cards are faily new and no drivers have been updated for them yet.

I just installed the Liveware for 5.1 and got the same message. From past experience DO NOT try to update drivers only once Liveware is installed. I have 3 SBLive cards and disable all the crap from either the program or control panel.

i have a live pree 5.1, and it worked perfectly with the live update, i was on cable and it puller updates every day, then i'd disable the icon for a few days, then next time i'd restart, it'd grab some more, and the driver ID would change, and things did work better, some times things changed so i would have to tell windows it had a new soundcard almost. . . but sound quality kicked, and it usually only needs to be updated once a day at the worst, really i only let it dl once a week. . u can shut it down for weeks at a time.. . but if you're not connected to the web right.. . . don't know about dll errors though

PCI bus not the problem. Upon first notice, I booted back to 15x to diagnose. Same error. Not a pci bus issue....
