YAY :D:D

I finally got my comp up and runnin with everything in linux.

I am running XMMS right now to play mp3s, and im wonderin if there was anyway to make it sound better. It just sounds like the bass is really lackin
and the highs aren't that clear.
I have the Promedia's. In WIndows, it is alot louder.

What should i do to make it sound better?

Like a tone control or updated drivers or something?

I have already messed with the EQ to no avail. :(

Getting the "Full bass and treble" eq setting helps... But i dunno where to find it, sorry.

I have yet to find a good program that configures that kind of thing, if anyone knows, tell us!

I found the tone contol in the mixer, but is there anyway to fade?

My rear speakers are a little far back and i have to fade back to hear them. Is there any way to do this?

What should i do to make it sound better?

Hook the sh*t up to a $12,000 home theater like mine is and I guarantee to you that it'll sound decent. :p

Seriously....Right now, I'm listening to a CD with GNOME's CD player applet on my SuSE 7.2, with the sound going out through my SB Live, and it sounds pretty decent to me running through my Adcom GFA 7000 5-channel 130 Watt/channel amp, Parasound DPL preamp/decoder (interconnected with Audioquest Ruby cables), out to Paradigm speakers all around (connected via Audioquest and Monster speaker cable) and a 120W powered Optimus sub.

;)

What distro and Window Manager are you running? Different ones come with different mixers...
