Does anyone have, or know where i can find, a pinout description of the AUD_EXT pins on a sb live 5.1 oem card? There is a set of pins marked J6-1 and J6-2, im pretty sure they are used to attach one of the external boxes to the card. What I want to do is utilize the front mounted microphone and headphone jacks that are in the PC Case that I have, but I need to figure out which pins on the card would be the ones I need to connect to. Any help is greatly appreciated.

The AUD_EXT headers on SB Live! cards are for connecting to the LiveDrive external boxes. You can't use these for your front mounted microphone/headphones. All the audio signals on those pins are digital. (SPDIF format actually) There are no analog INs/Outs on that header. Its pretty easy to find the pinouts anyway. Just search google for AUD_EXT pinout.

Steve,
I took a look at google, got one hit, the page described some of the pins, but what they showed on theirs was a row of I think 8 pins, the 5.1 card has 14X2 rows, and then another 5X2 rows. I know that these are for attaching the live drive, I was hoping that since the live drive offers mic/headphone ports that those pins were on there, so are you saying that the board built into the live drive is doing the conversion from spdif to analog for those ports on the live drive? If so I guess I am SOL, I have to see if the motherboard has anything that might work with it. Thanks for the info.

Yes, thats how the live drive works. I still don't understand why they did it this way. Analog audio from the soundcard gets converted to digital, sent over the cable and then converted back to analog.
